Alvecote Wood Photography

I am Sarah Walters, a retired doctor who has recently trained as a professional photographer, specialising in macro, landscapes, wildlife and nature. My love for nature has been lifelong, as has my interest in photography. Having a deep understanding of the subject, I use my knowledge of ecology and fieldcraft to take images of subjects in their natural habitat using natural light. My burning desire is to show the absolute beauty that is there all around us, if only we take the time to look and appreciate it.

Along with my husband, I own Alvecote Wood. This beautiful woodland is 20 acres in size, and lies on the border between North Warwickshire and Staffordshire, near Tamworth. It comprises 11 acres ancient woodland and 9 acres newly-planted woodland, meadows and ponds. We manage this woodland for wildlife and for community groups. If you want to learn more, please see

I also run photographic workshops to teach the basics of photography and specialist macro and insect photography.
